Resume Toolkit
A resume is a one-page summary of your education and experience. It gives an employer a quick, clear picture of what you’ve done. Every kind of experience can belong on it. That includes coursework, research, internships, campus jobs, activities, community and civic engagement, study abroad, and work you’ve done off campus. Most students keep more than one version and tailor each to the kind of role they’re applying for. This page walks you through how to build one, with guidance, real examples, and the rubric our advisors use to review resumes.
Resume Approval Process
1. Draft
Start with a Wesleyan template and add everything: internships, campus jobs, research, activities. Polish comes later.

2. Get Feedback
Schedule a resume review appointment. A conversation with an advisor is the fastest way to know what to keep, sharpen, or add.
→ Schedule a resume review
3. Revise and Upload
Revise your draft and upload it to Handshake for approval. Once approved, you can apply for any role that requires a resume.

A Strong Wesleyan Resume, Annotated
This example shows what our advisors look for: consistent headers, right-justified dates, and bullet points that lead with strong action verbs. Use it as a model for structure, not a script to copy. Your own words and experience should fill in the rest.
