Explore where a career in the Digital Law Group could take you!

At Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, we embrace innovation – for our clients and ourselves – and from innovation, deliver insight and solutions. This means we celebrate thinkers who have a firm grasp of the past and present, but with an eye to the future.

Our Digital Law Group implements this vision: we’re a global team of experts within Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer who are dedicated to capitalising on the complex legal problems and opportunities brought about by digitalisation. We’re lawyers but we’re also coders, researchers, writers, and philosophers. We value diversity of thought and acquire cutting edge skills and bring new ideas to maturity so that our clients can receive advice from the vanguard.

The Digital Law Group’s Virtual Experience gives you the opportunity to work on some of the technical problems that we tackle on a daily basis. You will learn about connected autonomous vehicles and smart legal contracts, and learn about what happens when technology goes wrong.

The tasks in these modules are challenging and that reflects the nature of the work that we do in the Digital Law Group. In real life you would have the opportunity to discuss the issues with your supervisor and other colleagues so you would not be tackling the tasks alone.

We also appreciate that you will have different levels of experience and knowledge and that some of you will not have studied law – that is not a problem; all of the tasks (whether involving legal issues or not) can be tackled by applying general analysis and critical thinking skills. We have included some brief notes on some of the key legal concepts that do come up in the tasks or model answers.

If this sounds interesting to you, then participate in our Virtual Experience: we would love to hear from you.

This program is self-paced. It takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete.
