Position: Finance & Strategy Intern
Location: Onsite in New York City
Type: Internship (Part-Time or Full-Time)
Start Date: Flexible
Duration: 10–12 weeks, with potential to extend

About Buddy:
Buddy is a mission-driven startup transforming the pet adoption experience through technology, data, and AI. We help adopters find their perfect match and support them through the entire pet parenting journey—before and after adoption.

Role Overview:
We’re seeking a sharp, analytical intern to support high-impact projects across financial modeling and business analytics. You’ll work directly with the founder and cross-functional leaders to analyze spend, build ROI models, and evaluate new business lines with detailed P&Ls. This is a hands-on opportunity to shape the financial infrastructure of a growing startup.

What You’ll Do:

Build and refine P&L models for new features, services, or business lines (e.g. training content, partnerships, post-adoption ecosystem offerings).

Analyze marketing spend across channels (Meta, TikTok, Reddit, influencers, etc.) and develop ROI models to support budget allocation.

Conduct cost-benefit and breakeven analyses to evaluate monetization strategies.

Create dashboards and financial reports to help guide executive decision-making.

Support ad-hoc strategy and finance questions, including unit economics and cohort analysis.

What We’re Looking For:

Strong background in finance, economics, data science, or a related field (undergrad or grad).

Solid Excel/Sheets modeling skills. SQL or BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau) are a plus.

Sharp analytical and critical thinking abilities—you ask “why?” and “what if?” a lot.

Comfort with ambiguity and startup-style execution: fast-paced, resourceful, and iterative.

Passion for animal welfare or technology for good? Bonus points.

What You’ll Get:

Direct mentorship from experienced founders and early-stage startup operators.

Real ownership over high-leverage strategic work.

A front-row seat to the building of a mission-driven tech startup changing lives—for pets and people.

If you’re interested, please email me directly at ryan@getbuddy.com sharing why you’re a fit for the role. Thank you!
