JOB OPENING: Weekend Anchor/Producer

KWQC-TV6 is a dominant NBC affiliate, serving Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois as the Quad Cities’ #1 station for news, information, and entertainment programming.

We are market leader in news, digital and social media in the Quad Cities.

KWQC-TV6 has the most experienced team in this market. We strive to keep our viewers informed and safe while guiding them through the ever-evolving digital world. The Quad Cities area is located right on the Mississippi River, it is a great place to make your mark as a journalist, but also a great place to live, just ask our anchors who have made the QC their home. Being located on the Iowa/Illinois border, journalists get to hone their skills covering a wide variety of stories, but also politics from both states.

JOB DESCRIPTION: KWQC-TV6 has an immediate opening for a Weekend Anchor and Producer. This position also reports as an MMJ three weekdays. The top candidate will be a dynamic, high-level storyteller who delivers every day. This is a high-profile position that requires initiative, leadership and impact.

The person we hire will be an innovator. You are willing to evolve and try new things. The ideal candidate will also possess versatility, speed and accuracy when it comes to gathering and verifying facts, shooting and editing video, and writing. You must have exceptional reporting skills and live delivery, news judgment and ethics. KWQC TV6 is a multi-platform organization and qualified candidates will excel in traditional television storytelling, as well as digital innovation. Previous experience is preferred.

Primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Experience – 3-5 year experience as an anchor and reporter

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities –

· Experience using Edius, internet production tools, and ENPS

· Ability to work a flexible work schedule and work as a member of a team.

· Must possess advanced understanding of newscast presentation.

· Must possess excellent writing and graphics skills with ability to provide an interesting and substantive product.

· Must be results oriented.

· Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Ability to work in a creative, fast paced environment.

· Ability to make quick decisions without losing composure.

· Must be able to manage multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.

· Previous experience with script writing and editorial experience preferred.
