The Wesleyan Refugee Project is a committed group of students that works with a variety of community partners to advocate for and provide services to refugees and other displaced persons as well as to cultivate a greater understanding of global displacement. We work with a number of international and local nonprofit organizations, assisting in areas such as tutoring, legal aid, refugee resettlement, and global advocacy.
Under the Jewett Center For Community Partnership (JCCP), we operate under three different subsections: Paper Airplanes, Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services (IRIS), and Fundraising Team. Federal work-study students can also be paid for their work.
Mission: This student organization was started at Wesleyan University in the Fall of 2015. They are a passionate group of Wesleyan students volunteering, fundraising, and raising awareness of current refugee crises. They work with a number of international and local nonprofit organizations, assisting in areas such as tutoring, legal aid, and refugee resettlement.
