Through several roles at WesWell (the Office of Health Education), Chloe French ’25 has developed hands-on skills that have launched her to pursue a Masters in Social Work. As a Health & Wellness Intern, she supported administrative tasks and programmatic projects to support the health and well-being of Wesleyan students, including through health awareness campaigns and trainings.

In what ways has your campus job contributed to your personal, academic, or professional growth and aspirations? What skills have you gained?

My experience with WesWell has transformed my interest in psychology to a passion in social service. I started as a We Speak We Stand Bystander Intervention Facilitator, teaching programs to students who are part of fraternities or athletics, and I was astonished at the impact that I could have on my campus. My role in my senior year as a Health & Wellness Intern allowed me to create my own passion projects, like my Drive Sober, Drive Safe campaign, and leave my own mark on my community.

What advice would you give to students who are seeking or starting their campus employment journey?

Do something you’re passionate about! Your job on campus should help you as much as you help them!

How has your campus job helped you build connections or networks within the university or broader community?

My campus job has been a foundational block in my application to get my Masters in Social Work. I am always proud to talk about my work at WesWell in interviews and applications because I truly love the work I do.

Give your campus job supervisor(s) a shout out – what did you love about their mentorship?

Shannon and September! You have made this job so amazing. Thank you for all of your support, for believing in me and for letting me make my own WesWell stickers (what an honor!!).

Chloe was nominated for the 2025 Exceptional Student Employee of the Year Award by her supervisor Shannon Perry, Alcohol and Other Drug Specialist at WesWell. Read the nomination below:

Chloe has been a WesWell Health and Wellness Intern for the past year, and I have the privilege of being her direct supervisor. Chloe is an exemplary student employee- she goes above and beyond what is expected from her as an intern, always bringing new ideas to WesWell and offering a helping hand. For example, Chloe identified the issue of impaired driving on campus and coordinated efforts with an outside organization to bring resources to the university. She will be leading a Party Safer Month program this April to continue to raise awareness about impaired driving. Prior to her role as an intern, Chloe was a We Speak We Stand Bystander Intervention Facilitator. She was the most active facilitator, demonstrating her dedication to keeping our campus community safe, and commitment to being a team player.

Chloe is trustworthy, independent, collaborative, resourceful, and kind. She is the kind of employee who will do a great job with very little guidance, but will speak up if she has any questions or concerns. In my role as her supervisor, I fully trust Chloe to meet deadlines and produce high quality work. I have no qualms about her leading workshops for students because she takes the work seriously and prepares prior to facilitating. Chloe is a wonderful employee and WesWell will miss her greatly when she graduates- We are grateful for her contributions!
