Major(s): Classical Studies, University

What is your current role? What was your journey in arriving there?
My career has included work in a private law firm, advising governments in Central and Eastern Europe on environmental law drafting, advocating for river protection and restoration in an NGO, advancing water quality and conservation through private foundation grantmaking and impact investing, and advising foundations and non-profits through my own consulting firm. I retired a few months ago, and now just focus on serving on a few non-profit boards.

What do you enjoy about your work? What challenges does your industry currently face?
I have loved my varied career, all of which has touched on water in some way.

Do you have any advice for students thinking about entering your industry?
I loved studying classical archaeology at Wesleyan and almost pursued a PhD (but I wasn’t interested in learning so many languages to study original texts). My research and analysis skills honed through my archaeology degree prepared me well for law school and a career in law and policy.

How did your time at Wesleyan influence your career choice/journey?
The water sector needs more smart, dedicated Wesleyan graduates!
