What was your project and what did you focus on?
This summer, I embarked on an independent exploration of UI/UX design, focusing on developing foundational skills, attending a well-respected industry conference, and exploring new interests in game design. My goal was to gain real-world experience and begin preparations for a portfolio that reflects my passion for creating user-friendly and visually engaging digital experiences, especially in the realm of video games.

What was a highlight of your experience?
A highlight of my summer was attending the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) International 2024 Conference, where I learned from industry experts and gained insights into UX research methods. I met a few wonderful people who I can now call on as a resource, and who helped to motivate and encourage me to continue following my passions. This experience inspired me to explore game design, specifically in creating relaxing and joyful experiences for users, which has shaped my future project ideas.

How did your summer experience impact you?
This summer allowed me to explore my interests in a supportive, flexible environment, leading to new discoveries about my career path in UI/UX and game design. It has been transformative for me, both personally and professionally. The opportunity to dive deep into UI/UX design and explore game design has not only expanded my skill set but also clarified my career aspirations. The freedom to learn at my own pace and explore different facets of design allowed me to discover a passion for creating digital experiences that bring joy and comfort to users.
