Sarah has refined her economics knowledge through various roles in the Economics department, including as a Course Assistant for Microeconomics (ECON301) and Quantitative Methods (ECON300), and as a Deans’ Peer Tutor for the “Econ Zone” (ECON300, 301, 302).

In what ways has your campus job contributed to your personal, academic, or professional growth and aspirations? What skills have you gained?

In my role as Course Assistant and Tutor for the Economics department, I have had the opportunity to refine many valuable skills. These include interpersonal skills such as communication and the ability to explain challenging concepts in an understandable way. I have also reinforced my own grasp of economic concepts through repetitive familiarization and explanations. These all have their direct benefits, but they also have the added benefit of improving my confidence in my own capabilities. Finally, I am lucky to have been provided the opportunity to meet and form meaningful relationships with professors and peers.
