The Gordon Career Center values its relationships with our campus partners and looks forward to working with you to meet your needs. See topics below for how we can be of service to you and your department.

Need help advising students?
The GCC is staffed with career advisors trained to help students enter a wide variety of fields. But we recognize that they may come to you first with questions. Find tips below!
If a students asks you questions about their potential career paths, don’t feel like you have to have all the answers. Consider asking them:
Why did you decide to come to Wesleyan?
How have you gone about choosing your courses?
What classes/assignments/projects have excited you most?
What extracurricular activities are you involved in?
Does your family have specific expectation for what they want you to pursue? How do you feel about that?
Have you met with anyone in the career center?
International students present with unique challenges due to federal law regarding US work eligibility. For instance, students on F-1 visas may not work off-campus in the US prior to completing a minimum number of credits and declaring a major. Please encourage such students to visit both the Office of International Student Affairs and the Gordon Career Center. You can learn more about resources available to international students here.
Wesleyan students pursue a wide variety of professional paths after graduation, regardless of major. To see the most recent data concerning first destinations, jobs by industry, top employers, and law and medical school acceptance rates, see our Career Outcomes page. If you would like data specific to your academic department, please contact Sharon Belden Castonguay at scastonguay@wes.
Use this real life employment data from across the country to help inform students’ career decision making.

Need help hiring students?
The GCC administers campus employment for undergraduate students and works with external employers to facilitate the hire of Wesleyan interns and post-graduate employees.
See the Student Employees pages of our website for all you need to know to post and hire undergraduates for campus jobs. Please note that all hourly campus jobs must be posted in Handshake.
If you are contacted by an external employer who wishes to hire Wesleyan students for a job or internship, or if you wish to hire yourself for an external venture, please contact our Employer Relations team.
If you are working directly with an employer to create an internship opportunity for Wesleyan students, please contact Sarah McNamara, associate director for employer relations, smcnamara@wes, for guidance before proceeding. It is vital that such partnerships abide by both federal law and Wesleyan policies. Note that students may be eligible to receive course credit through CSPL 493: Internship.
If a student or employer asks you to sign an internship agreement, please refer them to Sharon Belden Castonguay at scastonguay@wes. The GCC is in the best position to vet such agreements in the best interests of the student and the university.

Need help with student programming?
The Gordon Career Center co-sponsors over 200 programs a year and is always open to collaborating with faculty and academic departments.
If you would like to collaborate with the GCC on a career-related program, or even just need help with marketing, please reach out to us at careercenter@wes. We will refer you to the career advisor assigned to your department for follow-up.
The GCC is happy to help you think about topics for your event, find alumni to participate, and ensure students know about it. We are often willing to contribute to expenses related to food and publicity, though please keep in mind that we cannot pay for travel or honoraria for speakers.
The industry pages of the GCC website are a great way to showcase courses in your department that students may not know about. We also feature alumni in different fields, highlighting their majors–which often have nothing to do with their field of study! If you have classes you’d like to include, please reach out to careercenter@wes. If there is an alum you’d like to see us include on our site, please send them this form.
