Major(s): Computer Science

What is your current role? What was your journey in arriving there?
My current position is as a Data & Machine Learning Engineer. I started out on a traditional Computer Science track at Wesleyan University. I then got an opportunity to work as a Data Science intern in my sophomore year. This then opened up opportunities for me in the Data Analytics field. I interned as a Data Engineer in my junior year. That then led to my full-time role.

What do you enjoy about your work? What do you struggle with?
I love designing and building large-scale data infrastructure. I struggle with the complexity of designing and building large-scale data infrastructure. BUT, the challenge brought about by the complexity is what makes my job fun and fulfilling.

Do you have any advice for students thinking about entering your industry?
Even if you have a single destination career/job in mind, always remember that there are many paths you can take to reach that destination.

How did your time at Wesleyan influence your career choice/journey?
Wesleyan gives you a range of tools to navigate uncertainty with confidence. Connecting your major, interests, and ambitions to an actual job/career is not always a straight forward path. It helps that Wesleyan prepares you to be comfortable navigating winding and nonlinear paths throughout your 4 years on campus.
