Welcome to the Finance Career Community
If you’re interested in exploring careers in finance or preparing for recruiting, you’re in the right place.
Finance is a broad field with many different paths including investment banking, commercial banking, corporate finance, investment management, private equity, wealth management, and equity research, among others. Understanding the differences between these paths early is one of the most valuable things you can do as you begin your search.
Start Here Begin with the Wesleyan Finance Careers Guide, which provides an overview of the major career paths, what each role involves, pros & cons and skills to succeed. From there, explore job postings on Handshake and Adventis to get a feel for how firms describe these roles, and start building relationships with alumni who can share firsthand experience. You can find alumni on LinkedIn, WesConnect, and in the profiles featured below. If you’d like guidance on how to approach networking, schedule an advising appointment with me and check out our networking resources.
Get Involved Wesleyan’s finance clubs are among the best resources available to you. Foss Hill Financial, Women in Finance, and the Wesleyan Investment Group all offer programming, training, and mentorship. Learn more about these groups in the Club section at the bottom of this page.
Investment Banking Recruiting If investment banking is on your radar, the recruiting process is competitive and begins earlier than most students expect. The featured resources section includes recruiting guides that do an excellent job of walking you through the process and what to expect.
Let’s Connect I encourage you to schedule a 1:1 advising appointment so we can discuss your interests, explore the paths that fit you best, and build a search strategy that works for your timeline and goals.
I look forward to meeting you!
